'Catholics will not use condoms'
30 April 2013, 18:11
A Nyeri Catholic Archdiocese priest Archbishop Peter Kairu on Sunday said Catholic Church followers do not and will not believe in the use of condoms.
The archbishop said campaigning for the use of condoms is advocating for infidelity and unfaithfulness among partners.
Speaking at Othaya Catholic Church during sermon, Kairu said the church will not adjust its stand against use of condoms.
The man of the cloth however refuted claims that Catholics believe in sex and therefore they should use the protections.
According to Kairu, abstinence and faithfulness among couples is the only way to curb sexual transmitted diseases.
He urged youths to abstain from sexual intercourse and hold celibacy until wedlock terming marriage as a ceremonial institution.
He said the lobby group carrying the campaign hailed ‘Good Catholics use condoms’ is not part of the Catholic Church.
