Candidate drown after completing KCSE

Nyandarua - A former student at Uruku secondary school in Ndaragwa, Nyandarua County drowned Thursday after a photo session turned tragic.
The students were taking photos at River Pesi when one of them accidentally drowned.
According to Joseph Njaramba, a resident, the students had just left the school in the afternoon for a photo session after completing their exams.
Njaramba said that 30 minutes later neighbours heard wails from the students, prompting them to rush to the scene of the accident.

“We rushed to the scene and found the students crying saying that one of them had drowned. The students were all shocked,” said Njaramba.
He noted that they alerted the school management who also came and joined hundreds of residents who had gathered at the scene to try to rescue the boy but in vain.
Confirming the incident, Nyandarua North OCPD Morris Assillah said they were seeking the assistance of divers to help in retrieving the body.
Assilah added that police were investigating the matter to verify what exactly happened.
By the time of going to the press, the body of the student was yet to be retrieved.
