Eldoret - Residents of Tairi Mbili on the outskirts of Eldoret town are still reeling in shock after a middle-aged man in the area committed suicide following alleged constant beatings by his wife.
The lifeless body of the man who was a taxi driver was found dangling from the roof of his house on Sunday morning. This happened after he previously complained to his neighbours that he was tired of constant beatings by his spouse.
Neighbours who spoke to journalists on condition of anonymity said the man’s wife used to assault him whenever he questioned her over allegations that she was involved in extra marital affairs.

“He had approached me previously asking me to speak to his wife to stop beating him. He also asked me to plead with her to stop spending the night out,” said a neighbour.
Eldoret West Police boss, Smollet Munyanzi confirmed the incident and said they have started investigations into the man’s death.
“We have launched investigations. We are also looking for the man’s wife who fled after the incident,” the police boss told journalists.
