Nairobi - The Coalition for Reforms and Democracy CORD wants President Uhuru Kenyatta impeached for ignoring Supreme Court orders declaring teachers be paid improved perks.
The coalition wants Uhuru impeached for ignoring his Constitutional mandate of agreeing to orders from the highest court in the land.
The plans by CORD are bourne out of the fact that he said that teachers were being unreasonable with the demands of teachers for a 50/60% pay increase which in this case was not for him to say or not.
The Supreme Court's orders are not irreversible.
CORD also claims that the government having made a stand which reflects that of a party not willing to respect the constitution.
The petition is set to be presented next week.
Teachers have been on a so far three week long strike that is threatening to completely derail the education sector after the government said it was not going to pay them their dues.
The government says that it cannot afford the close to KES 17 billion needed to pay teachers at present.
