CORD told to stop politicising Coast land issue

Mombasa - Stop making Coast landlessness an issue to campaign on come 2017, CORD leaders have been told.
This is a message from the Jubilee leaders from the coast who held a press conference accusing their counter parts from the CORD side of taking a negative stand over a positive step being taken by the government.
Led by the former Garsen Member of Parliament, Danson Mungatana, the leaders have condemned the CORD leaders for politicizing an issue that is of much importance to the Coast people.
Mungatana said that the Coast people have languished in poverty for many years due to lack of title deeds that the government intends to offer them adding that those trying to ask people to reject the title deeds is an enemy to development and definitely an enemy of the Coast people.
Mungatana strongly rubbished the claims by CORD leaders that the title deeds are political, as the said documents have got no indicator on them pointing at any political stand and they are the same documents that those leaders opposing them use them to acquire loans.
Mungatana said this just a day after Mijikenda elders held a meeting to protest over the utterances made by the CORD leaders stating that the leaders intend to make the Coast a political area by using the land issue as a campaigning point.
Mungatana said that those accusing the government of making the title deeds a political issue worked in the government for a long time but failed to bring even one title deed yet the same are against 60 000 titles that are to be offered to Coast people.
