CORD to seek sacking of IEBC chair Hassan in parliament

Nairobi - The Coalition for Restoration of Democracy CORD will seek the removal of senior chiefs of the under fire Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission IEBC in parliament.
The move is part of the continued war by the opposition coalition on the elections body, which has been under fire over its management of the March 2013 general election.
CORD will seek the removal of senior IEBC officials including chairman Isack Hassan over their conduct in the March polls.
" CORD will this afternoon present, to Parliament, a petition seeking to send home all the nine IEBC commissioners, a statement from the coalition read in part.
This follows the release of a secret tape which had a senior IEBC official claiming that the election result was bungled in favour of current president Uhuru Kenyatta.
Current ODM party leader Prof. Anyang Nyong'o has already been on record as saying the coalition will actively seek the disbandment of the IEBC as a whole.
" IEBC has been proven to be inconsistent and untrustworthy, he and other senior CORD officials have said.
In February, CORD principal Raila Odinga had kicked up a storm with his vote rigging complaints against the IEBC.
He said that they had assisted in rigging the elections in the Jubilee coalition's favour and urged the disbandment of the body.
The IEBC had called for Raila to apologize over the claims but he did not.
" The comments are out of context, derogatory and can cause problems in the country and a swift apology should suffice, IEBC had said at the time.
