CORD replaces Maitha as minority chief whip

Nairobi - The CORD coalition has officially replaced Gideon Maitha Mungaro as the opposition's minority chief whip in the national assembly.
The move was made Thursday morning in a written application by leader of minority Francis Nyenze in a letter addressed to Speaker Justin Muturi.
Maitha, who is the Kilifi North MP has been singled out by party leaders as being too close to the Jubilee government and influencing the struggles the coalition has see in the Coastal region.
Wundanyi MP Thomas Mwadeghu has replaced Maitha in the role.
The decision is said to have caused upheaval within the coalition but the move to appoint a person from the same region to replace him is said to be a sweetener.
CORD leaders in the Coastal region including Mombasa Senator Omar Hassan have accused Mungaro of being a Jubilee mole and flirting with the ruling coalition.
" The move is in order and I fully support it and as I said earlier, it was not going to be reversed, he said on his Twitter account.
Mungaro has also been removed from the influential House Business Committee.
