CORD release roster for pre- Saba saba rallies

10 June 2014, 11:52 William Korir

Nairobi - The CORD coalition will hold 12 rallies across the country as curtain raisers for the main rally to be held on Saba saba day, it has been announced.

The coalition through its secretariat Tuesday, said the 12 rallies will be spread across the country in preparation for the big one at the Kamukunji grounds July 7,2014.

In a statement, the coalition said that the rallies will be peaceful and aim for dialogue with citizens over the way forward for the country in the wake of the Jubilee coalition's failure to accept dialogue.

" The rallies will be peaceful and we ask police to provide adequate security for the events, the statement signed by CORD secretariat boss Norman Magaya read.

The rallies will start Friday in Migori town, Mombasa Sunday then head off to Kisii, Kakamega, Nakuru, Garissa, Eldoret, Kisumu, Machakos then the big one at Kamukunji.

The impending rallies have already been castigated by the Jubilee coalition, with some of its members asking that the rallies not proceed to their counties.

President Uhuru Kenyatta has already asked that CORD drop the political acts and focus on building and aiding development in the country instead.

" I ask that they let me govern till 2017 when we can move on to elections. Right now is time to look at development of the nation, he said Monday in Kisii.
