Nairobi - CORD leaders targeted Devolution CS Anne Waiguru for ridicule during their Uhuru Park rally to support the ongoing teachers strike.
The leaders did not shy away from mentioning Waiguru in every one of their comments on the ongoing strike by teachers, saying that her Devolution docket is the most corrupt and that money to pay teachers their newly agreed salaries can be hived off it.
The ridicule started with Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama who termed Waiguru as a lacking and protected.
" The Devolution docket has seen so much money lost by Waiguru and we must ensure that there is no more losses and the money used to pay teachers," he stated.
His Kakamega counterpart Bonny Khalwale was also of the same opinion.
" There is money at the NYS and under Waiguru which is still being wasted. Teachers can use that money," he added.
The laptop project was also called into question by the CORD leaders.
" The 29 billion being put aside for a laptop project that has yet to kick off can be given to teachers. Do we want laptops when there are no students in class?" Tongaren MP Eseli Simiyu said.
Waiguru has been under pressure from CORD leaders to step aside and allow investigations into a KES 791 loss at the NYS which is under her Devolution docket.
She has so far stated her innocence in the matter.
