CORD MPs suspended from Parliament over Security Bill chaos
18 February 2015, 17:14
Nairobi - Three MPs from the CORD coalition have been suspended from parliament for causing chaos during the reading of the controversial Security Bill in December.
The three are Suba MP and ODM chairman John Mbadi, Shinyalu MP Silvestre Anami and Homa Bay's Gladys Wanga.
MPs agreed that the three had caused chaos and acted way above their limit and should be suspended for 4 days.
101 MPs voted to have the MPs suspended, while 52 opposed it.
2 MPs abstained.
The punishment came despite House Speaker Justin Muturi earlier this month saying that no MPs would be censured over the chaotic scenes that took place.
The Ethics and Commision has also called for the MPs to be punished but Muturi said there would be no external audit of the proceedings of the day.
