COFEK calls for demos in support of Monica Juma

15 June 2015, 18:32

Nairobi - The Consumer Federation of Kenya (COFEK) has called for nationwide demonstrations against the MPs on Tuesday, following their rejection of Monica Juma’s nomination as Secretary to the Cabinet.

COFEK has already started a social media campaign under the hash tag #KenyansForMonicaJuma to mobilize those in support of Juma to join them in the demonstrations tomorrow.

The procession will pass through Moi Avenue, University Way, Uhuru Highway then to Parliament Road.

“We request you to join our peaceful demonstrations countrywide in support of the Constitution and rule of law - against the National Assembly. Join us on Tuesday from 10 am at Kencom Bus Stage,” COFEK said in a statement.

The federation described Juma as resourceful, well educated, honest, proactive, respectful, open minded, enthusiastic, open to change and organized, saying she was best fit to take up the post.

Last week, the federation sent a petition to President Uhuru Kenyatta over the matter and it says 365 signatures have already been collected to back the petition.
