Nairobi - Chairman of the Constitution Implementation Commision CIC Charles Nyachae has hit out the CORD coalition for spreading untruths about the role of County Commissioners.
Nyachae, reacting to the hullabaloo made over the appointments by president Uhuru Kenyatta last week says that they are legal and completely in order.
He says that the opposition must cease spreading untruths over the matter which might end up causing the country problems in future.
" I think that they should say the truth and not lie to Kenyans about the situation, he said.
" The president has done nothing illegal in the appointments and he has been within his jurisdiction to appoint them as he has, he added.
In his view, the central government has every right to have representation at county level for obvious reasons.
" They are within the law and meant to strengthen the functionality of the government at County level. This is normal and has nothing sinister about it, he added.
He furthermore went on to criticize those in the opposition who were part of the constitutional making process and are at the moment spreading the wrong message to the public.
" There are persons who went through the constitution making framework and are now turning on it, which is unfortunate.
" Let the truth be the truth and I am prepared to say it is the truth, he added.
The Council of Governors has also insisted that there is a problem with the County Commissioners, saying they are there to frustrate devolution.
