A 40-year-old businesswoman who operated a fast-growing Agrovet shop in Nyahururu town was murdered in her house by unknown people who apparently did not steal anything from her.
Nyandarua North Divisional Police Commander Benjamin Onsongo said the police suspected ‘a deal gone sour’ as the two suspected gangsters did not force their entry into the house and nothing was stolen in the newly constructed house along the Nyeri - Nyahururu road.
She was stabbed several times in the stomach with a sharp object, presumably a kitchen knife, leaving her for the dead.
She was pronounced dead on arrival at the Nyahururu district hospital where good Samaritans rushed her.
Onsongo said the daughter of the deceased suffered a fracture on her left leg as she fled from the scene.
The businesswoman identified only as Cecilia Wambui Karumba alias Mama Njeri, was running a thriving Agrovet shop on Sharpe Road (Barclays Bank - Clock Tower stretch) and was a parent at Nyandarua Boarding Primary School in Nyahururu town.
The OCPD appealed to residents to help police with information that could lead to identification of the gangsters whom he described as vicious and ruthless, going by the manner they killed the victim.
Residents called on the police to intensify patrols in the area.
