Business people make a kill during the holidays
03 January 2013, 10:29
Farmers in Kericho town made abnormally high profits due to the high price of groceries over the holidays.
Almost every commodity was selling high, and matatu operators also adjusted fares upwards to benefit from the people going upcountry for holiday celebrations.
According to green grocers, the prices of carrots and other fresh vegetables shot up partly due to the high transportation costs incurred.
By New Year, ten kilos of carrots were going for eight hundred shillings in Kericho, an abnormally high price according to the cost of living of this town.
