Nyeri - Business operations at a matatu stage in Nyeri town were disrupted for more than an hour after a swarm of bees invaded the terminus on Friday.
The bees entered into a 4NTE Sacco Nissan matatu which was packed to capacity with passengers ready to leave to Nyahururu.
The passengers quickly alighted from the vehicle and ran for safety while some hid into kiosks and shops around the busy terminus.
At one point, a matatu driver held the throng of buzzing bees with his bare hands in an attempts of driving them out of the area.
Nobody was injured during the bizarre incident which left many in shock.
“This is very unusual, I have never seen bees invading a matatu stage and entering matatus without harming passengers,” said an eye witness.
Owners of kiosks also scampered for cover as the bees did not spare them.
They were scared of going back to their kiosks for fear of being attacked by the bees.
