Nairobi - Two middle aged men were today charged in a Nyahururu court for gang raping a mentally challenged woman.
The two brothers, Edmund Kuria Ngera and Robert Ichungu Ngera denied the charges when they appeared before senior resident magistrate Peter Ndege and were released on a KES 200,000 bond with a surety of a similar amount each.
The charges facing them stated that on March 8, at Jua Kali estate Ol Kalou town in Nyandarua County, they gang-raped a mentally challenged middle aged woman.
An alternative charge stated that they indecently touched the complainant’s private parts before committing the offence without her consent.
The court heard that the two accused paid another girl to lure the complainant into their house before committing the offence.
The complainant’s family members reported the matter to Ol Kalou police station after receiving reports from the members of the public.
They were later arrested after they were identified by the girl whom they had paid to lure the complainant into their house and charged with the offense facing them.
Efforts by the prosecution to bar the court from releasing the two accused on bond were futile as the two accused through their lawyer Fredrick Masinde objected the application.
The case begins on May 5 while the mentioning date was set to be on April 9, this year.
