Brothers assault grandmother after bad report from fortune teller

04 March 2014, 12:53 Rodgers Buluma

Voi - A 50-year-old woman is nursing wounds at the Voi hospital after she was assaulted by two brothers on claims that she was practicing witchcraft.

The incident happened on Monday mid-morning at Ndii area in Voi when well wishers reported the matter to the police.

Speaking to the media after the arrests were made, the Voi OCPD, Joshua Rutukai said that his team had launched investigations into the matter to establish the motive behind the assault.

“We have managed to arrest two brothers who are said to have forcefully assaulted the woman on the ground that she was a sorcerer. We are however still investigating the matter as it is claimed that the woman is actually related to the suspects,” Voi police boss said.

On their part, the two suspects said that they caned her after claims that she was behind their hard luck in life.

Rutu Ngai and Mwandiviro Ngai said that the woman, whom they said was their grandmother, had magical powers that were holding them back from achieving their dreams.

“She has been holding back our fortune for all this without our knowledge and after we found out, we were furious about it,” said Mwadiviro.

The two said they learnt that their grandmother was actually their enemy an expert fortune teller.
