Breaking: Government to hire 70,000 teachers for 3 months
30 September 2015, 16:41
Nairobi - The government will hire 70,000 teachers on a three month contract as it seeks to kill off the effects of the ongoing teachers strike.
The Teachers Service Commision TSC said Wednesday that it was forced to do so in-order to ensure that the upcoming national examinations take place without any issues at all.
It also said that the ongoing strike was also not coming to an end as soon as they had hoped and it was important to mitigate the effects of it.
It also means that schools that have been closed for a few weeks now, can be opened as soon as possible.
Teachers have been on a five week strike over unpaid allowances accrued from a 50/60% salary raise by the Labour Courts.
More to come....
