Vihiga - A 17-year-old boy is being detained at Vihiga Police Station for allegedly raping an 82-year-old grandmother at her home in Kegoye village, Vihiga County.
The boy who appeared before Senior Resident Magistrate Susan Mwangi at Vihiga Law courts Tuesday morning, said he was 14 years old prompting the magistrate to order for his age check up at Vihiga Hospital before the case proceeds later in the week.
“Let him be taken to the hospital first to make sure that he is 14 years old, before we can take any other necessary steps," the magistrate said.
The grandmother told the court that she was sleeping in her house when she heard someone break into the house through the window.

“Before I could ask who was there, I found myself helpless, with someone who had already taken me captive on my bed," she said.
Her daughter-in-law who had come to check on her heard her crying in the house, and when she entered into the house, she found the boy raping the granny.
The boy however, overpowered her and ran away before neighbours trooped in and mounted the search. For the latest on national news, politics, sport, entertainment and more follow us onTwitter and like our Facebook page!
