Bomet elders welcome appointment of parastatal heads

03 January 2014, 17:36 Kimutai Langat

Bomet - A section of elders from Bomet have supported President Uhuru Kenyatta's appointments of parastatal heads.
The elders said the president acted within his constitutional right and those opposing him on the matter are not being sincere.
Daniel Maringany from Sotik said the appointees have the necessary qualifications and it was wrong for them to be disqualified just because they are old.
“Is it wrong for one to be old? Old age is neither a mistake neither is it a curse and we are fully behind the president,” said Marindany.
He also called Kenyans should desist from critism and instead the government in the bid to develop the country.
He said said Kenyans should at least put aside politics and allow the government to work.
“Not every time is time for politics. We need to learn how to differentiate between politics and time for working,” said Marindany.
On his part, David Sitonik of Longisa lashed out at those opposing the appointments terming them selfish and after their personal interests.
According to Sitonik, those criticizing the president are not being sincere because if given opportunity, they wouldn’t have done any better.
”Those opposing the appointments are not being sincere because even if they were given the chance, they would have done even worse,” noted Sitonik.
He further called on the president to ignore those who are complaining, saying such complains will only compromise the running of the various parastatals.
The elders further maintained that the appointments considered gender balance and called on Kenyans to give Jubilee government time to work and fulfill its manifesto which include improving infrastructure and agriculture.
