Nairobi - The Bomas of Kenya in Nairobi will host the national caucus for members of county assemblies who will decide whether to back Governors' push for a referendum vote.
The meeting will be held in Nairobi on the weekend of August 23-24 where a decision will be made on whether to accept calls bu Governors to back them in the referendum.
The referendum seeks to ensure that Counties are allocated 45% of national revenue, as compared to the current 15% minimum threshold.
The County Assembly Forum has sent letters to all County Assembly officials to attend the caucus.
" We ask that all members please avail themselves for the caucus to decide the way forward on a matter of national importance, a letter signed by Forum secretary Albert Kochai said Wednesday.
Governors have already started talks with MCAs over supporting them in the referendum, promising them sweeteners in return.
Such sweeteners include higher powers, as well as improved allowances and car grants.
According to Kochai, the meeting will help the Forum deliberate on the way forward for the matter ahead of a major meet with Governors in September.
