Embu - Drama unfolded when a woman’s body that had been exhumed over a week ago in Gachaviri village, Embu County, was held at a mortuary in Embu over dowry arrears.
Lilian Tunoi’s family obtained an order from a Kericho court to exhume the body due to the dowry debt and unclear circumstances under which she had died.
They alleged that the deceased’s husband, Elias Mwangagi who is a teacher at Chuka Secondary School, had failed to pay up the dowry price they had agreed on.

Mwangangi was also accused of hurriedly burying Tunoi without involving any of her family members.
Area assistant chief, Eston Ireri (Gikiiri sub-location), said it was upon the two families to solve their differences amicably without hanging their dirty linen in public.
The deceased’s family had come all the way from Kericho before they sought the assistance of police officers and morgue attendants from Embu to help exhume the body amid resistance from Mwangangi’s family.
