Weaves have become common place in East Africa, more and more women are crowning their heads with fake hair, despite having their own, to impress and even seduce men…even though they deny and claim it’s to make themselves feel good; how do you make yourself feel good by stitching someone else’s bloody hair on your own? Apparently this trend is rampant in West Africa that in Lagos if a lady hasn’t stapled on a weave she is perceived a villager, so all uptown girls pay homage to the weave and keep slapping their heads in rhythm to keep the dead animal on their head in place.
American and Nigerian superstars entice them to look like them and reap the imaginary screen rewards that these stringy smelly synthetic masks possess. I often see our ladies here in with what looks like a wet mop on their heads walking like a Hollywood superstar thinking they are on top of the world.
