One of the luxuries we possess as Africans is the ability to afford a helper at very low costs or no cost at all depending on the circumstances. For as little as $50 per month one can have their house cleaned, food cooked, clothes washed, nanny services and other menial household chores done.
Some stingy people abduct relatives from the village to the city and use them as slaves under the ‘better life’ pretext, unfortunately these girls never go to school but instead they stay at home doing all the cleaning, cooking, washing and taking care of children their own age with no pay except a mattress to sleep on and food, often leftovers.
