Nyeri - Police in Kerugoya on Saturday nabbed bhang worth KES 1 million inside a barbershop at Kagio market.
The bhang was recovered by members of the public and administration officers during a crackdown of illicit brews which has intensified in various parts of Mount Kenya region.
The raid on the beer dens was headed by Ndia MP, Stephen Ngari who expressed shock that the brews and bhang were being sold from some barbershops.

“You can imagine drug traffickers and illicit brew retailers have become so innovative in this market such that the stuff is sold in plastic bags,” he said.
He later led the irate residents in destroying the brews and bhang stones at Kagio police station while accompanied by Kirinyaga West OCPD, Gasper Makau and other senior government officials.
He vowed to continue fighting second generation brews.
