Betty Tett arrested, accused of plotting murder

Nairobi - Former politician Betty Tett has been arrested for conspiracy to plotting the murder of a Nairobi based businessman.
Tett was arrested Wednesday and questioned by police for allegedly plotting to kill her business rival, a Mr John Laird White by hiring the services of a jail bird, a certain Mr Linus Wachira.
Police have charged her with conspiracy to commit murder after Wachira apparently approached Laird with news of his intended murder and Laird quickly engaged police to deal with the matter.
Wachira is already in custody.
During the preliminary hearing of the case at the Kibera Law Courts, Wachira pleaded guilty to the charge of intended murder.
It is alleged that between August 1, 2014 and December 29, 2014, the two and others had colluded to have Mr Laird killed.
It is understood that the reason for the planned murder is a business deal gone south.
Wachira claimed that he had received KES 1 million from Tett and upon completion of the task would receive the remaining KES 2 million of the agreed sum of KES 3 million to kill Mr Laird.
He was arrested by police after asking Mr Laird to produce some more money and was picked up the day he had gone to collect the supposed extra money to drop the killing mission.
Tett was not available for comment by the time of going to press.
