Bestiality suspect released on KES 200K bond

Nyeri - An elderly man who allegedly raped a sheep was Wednesday appeared before Nyeri Resident Magistrate John Aringo to face trial over bestiality.
Munene Waimenyi was charged with committing an unnatural act with a sheep at Kigogoini location, Tetu sub-County.
The accused, ostensibly in his 70's, allegedly committed the offence on May 18, 2014.
He however denied the charges and was released on bond of KES 200 000 with a surety of similar amount or a cash bail of the same amount.
The case was slated to proceed on July 17.
Cases of unnatural acts have been rampant in the recent past within the region.
Recently, a man was handed four years in jail for raping a goat in Ngangarithi Estate on the fringes of Nyeri town.
Last year, a middle-aged man was arrested by members of the public for raping a hen.
