Bella Vista suspect arraigned in court

Mombasa - Thabit Jamaldin Yahya the suspect of the Bella Vista grenade attack in Mombasa which left one person dead and scores injured was for the first time arraigned in a Mombasa High court on Monday to face Murder Charges.
Thabit who appeared in Court on a wheel chair after sustaining injuries on his leg in the attack was charged that on 15th May 2012 at Bella Vista Hotel in Mombasa jointly with others not before court murdered Mary Cheptirim.
However Mombasa High court Judge Maureen Odero directed that Thabit be remanded at Shimo La Tewa prison and be brought back to the court on 31st July where he will be represented by a lawyer who was not present at the time.
Odero also directed that the court be presented with psychiatrist report and other relevant documents on that date so that Thabit can take his plea and the case proceed.
Thabit had been admitted at the Coast General Hospital for treatment since May 15th after he was injured on his leg at the attack.
