Bar owners threaten to sue Waititu

30 June 2015, 10:37 Jayden Kanuri

Nairobi - Kabete MP, Ferdinand Waititu may soon be in hot soup after a section of bar owners in the constituency threatened to sue him for leading recent raids on their premises in a crackdown on illegal bar operators.

Waititu led the crackdown in Wangige area last Saturday accompanied by about 20 youths who broke into some of the bars they claimed were operating illegally.

But the bar owners have now come out guns blazing condemning the method used by Waititu and the youths saying it affected everyone including those with valid licenses.

Hannah Njuguna, one of the affected bar owners narrates her ordeal: "I have proper licenses and also let Waititu and the youths peacefully into my premises, but the youths damaged various items in my bar."

Other bar owners lamented that the operation was more of looting than inspection.
