Police officers in Imenti North District have arrested a woman who allegedly conspired with her daughter to dump a four days old baby boy in a sewer located in Meru town following a tip off from the public.
Meru Municipality chief Mercy Murithi said the baby was wrapped in a polythene paper before it was later dumped at a sewer situated at Gakoromone open air market.
"The baby survived miraculously after it was left for the dead before it was rescued by members of the public yesterday evening," said Murithi.
She said residents claimed the mother was planning to abandon the baby because she delivered it along the road before good Samaritans rushed the two to the hospital.
