Nairobi - President Uhuru Kenyatta has termed as nonsense, the recent letter by University of Nairobi student leader Babu Owino, demanding that US President Barrack Obama visit the institution.
Owino had written to a letter supposedly to the US President demanding that he visits the institution whilst in Kenya or some students will commit suicide.
The President said that Obama, who will visit Kenya next week for the Global Entrepreneurship Summit, does not necessarily have to go to the University of Nairobi.
" We want him to go where he wants. Its his choice as long as Kenya is secure but it does not have to be the University of Nairobi. Such demands are a waste of time," he said.
He was speaking during the opening of the Kenya-Japan conference on infrastructure at Serena hotel, Nairobi on Thursday.
Owino had said that there would be catastrophic consequences if the US President avoided a trip to the institution.
" It saddens our hearts that President Barrack Obama is not scheduled to visit the great UoN. I therefore honourably appeal to Obama to visit us when he is in the country, failure to which there will be serious consequences," he added.
