Central Organisation of Trade Unions-(COTU) secretary
general Francis Atwoli has recently
condemned the presidential hopefuls who have already busy in early campaigns terming the move is ill advised and
disastrous for the nation under the new constitution dispensation.
The outspoken COTU secretary general blamed the leadership
of the two principal’s president mwai kibaki and prime minister in the grand
coalition for failure of containing their supporters.
Atwoli said that the country is still embroiled in
tribalism and is yet to heal from what
transpired during the 2007-2008 post poll
bloody skirmishes adding that if early campaigns are not stopped, then
there is a likelihood of a reoccurrence of violence after elections.
He said both Uhuru and Ruto should seek a proper interpretation of the constitution on whether or not they
are eligible to vie for presidency
whilst quoting that the international criminal
is not a “ makadara or kibera court.”
Atwoli observed that early campaigns had given chance to incitement and that
it’s the high time the two principals showed proper leadership to check on the
same.
