Aspirants heed to Kibaki's call for peaceful polls

03 March 2013, 09:35 Kelvin Wanjohi

Politicians in Nyandarua and Laikipia Counties have pledged to accept the outcome of the general elections scheduled for Monday, March 4.

Speaking at a meeting held in Nyahururu town, the politicians drawn from all the seats that will be contested for, said that it will help promote peace in the country because their supporters will also feel contented once they accept the outcome.

In Laikipia county, most of the politicians defeated during the primaries defected to smaller parties in a bid to secure their seats, with most politicians saying that the nominations were marked by anomalies and it was not free and fair.

Albeit some of them being defeated by a wider margin by the winners, they said they will cling on since there might be a big change during the general elections.

They said that they have heeded to President Mwai Kibaki's call for peace and the acceptance of the outcome, and they are ready to work together as a team to see that the dreams of their respective counties are achieved in accordance with vision 2030.

The candidates said that each of them have assigned trusted agents in every polling center, and the information that they will forward to them will be dutifully accepted.
