A Nyeri town parliamentary seat aspirant in the just concluded elections has moved to court over what he has referred to as ‘prejudice’.
George Miatu Mwehe said he filed the petition after Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) misspelled his name in the ballot paper.
“My names are George Miatu but in the ballot paper it was George Maitu. This was totally misleading voters,” said the aspirant in Nyeri on Friday.
Through a law firm Muhoho Gichimu & company advocates, Miatu argued that the error highly contributed to his failure.
He was running on a Narc ticket, a party which he defected to immediately after TNA party primaries.
The former Nyeri Water and Sewerage Company (NYEWASCO) director garnered 5 341 votes against the MP elect Esther Murugi who got 28 564 votes.
Miatu came third following GNU candidate Maina Mathenge who had 21 154 votes.
