28-year old man arrested for murder in Nyeri

A 28-year old man from Ihuririo Village in Nyeri South District was yesterday arrested by police in connection with killing his elderly father.
Othaya OCPD, Adiel Nyange said there is allegation that the suspect Abraham Githeki hit his ailing father, Joseph Mubea with a huge stone after he denied him money to purchase cigarette.
The grieved area residents who flocked to the deceased home, claimed that Githeki was waiting for his mother that they could attend a service at a local church before he turned violent leading to the killing.
The OCPD said the man had admitted to have committed the murder adding that he will be arraigned in court soon after investigations are complete.
The residents suspected that the youth might have acted under the influence of bhang.
The body was taken to Mukurwe-ini District Hospital Mortuary for postmortem.
