Armed robbers kill a 53 year old

23 January 2013, 14:17 Steve Wambugu

Residents of Kamuri area in the outskirts of Kuresoi are living in fear of attack following the death of a 53 years old man who was shot dead by armed robbers Tuesday night.

The man who was identified as Francis Kiragu Njuguna died on the spot after the attackers broke into his house at around 1:00 AM.

According to a neighbor who was interviewed by the media, the robbers are believed to be part of a huge gang that has been terrorizing wananchi in that area for months now.

The source added that the gang was operating boldly because its members were in police uniform.

The armed robbers are also believed to have been behind carjacking of vehicles in that area during evening hours.

The angry residents blamed the local authorities for failing to take insecurity matters seriously despite the massive deployment of police officers in that area following crimes upsurge.

Former area Councilor Njuguna Gichamu urged the police in that area to be alert at all times in order for them to win the war against crime.

The body of the late Francis Kiragu was taken to Kuresoi district morgue.
