Six gangsters armed with an AK-47 riffle on Tuesday morning broke into an M-pesa shop along a busy street in Nyahururu town and made away with several phones and unknown amount of cash.
Confirming the robbery, area Police chief Benjamin Onsongo said that the gang posed as customers before ordering the attendant to surrender the cash at gun point.
They also asked for the new phones on display at the busy M-pesa shop.
After receiving the money, they got out of the shop and one of them shot in the air to disperse a crowd that had gathered out of the shop, then walked a short distance before escaping on motorbikes.
The incident comes barely 12-hours after another M-pesa shop was raided before the gang took off with KES 45 000 and several phones on Monday night.
The police believe that is the same gang that has of late been terrorizing business people in the area
He urged M-pesa dealers to minimize the amount of cash at hand and to be on high alert especially when there are less customers or suspicious looking individuals.
He said that there is a special crime unit already dispatched to corner the gang.
