Animal thieves dress them as humans to evade arrest

Kampala - Ugandans are in shock after it has been discovered that thieves of domestic animals are now dressing them as human beings before transporting them on motorcycles.
On Monday, police in Kampala arrested a boda boda operator who carrying a stolen sheep that was dressed in an overcoat and a hat on his motorcycle.
According to the officer in charge of Kitintale police station, Harbert Akankwasa, boda boda operators in the city centre became suspicious when they saw horns of the sheep protruding through a hat.
The sheep was hidden between a boda boda operator and another person who sat on the passenger seat.

Boda bodas have recently become very popular in Uganda.
Akankwasa said, ''On seeing horns protruding through the hat on the head of the sheep, the other boda boda operators started chasing the colleague carrying it. On reaching Kitintale, which is in a suburb of Kampala, they caught up with him and forced him to stop.''
He said the one seated behind the sheep fled but the motorcycle rider was arrested and taken to the police station. Police have identified him as Jack Semambo.
Semambo reportedly confessed that they have been stealing goats and sheep and ferrying them on motorcycles after dressing them like human beings.
He said that the suspect will be taken to court to answer to various charges including theft.
