Angry mob lynches suspected transformer thief

Nakuru - A suspected transformer thief was on Monday lynched by angry residents of Njoro town in Nakuru County.
According to area residents, the man was found siphoning fuel from the transformer.
"We have been having problems with transformers in the town because of vandalism," Samuel Maina said.
He said that they have been experiencing major power blackouts in the area and that there businesses have been adversely affected.
“We have been having this problem which has affected our jobs because we greatly depend on electricity,” he said.
According to him, they have been tracing the man for the past few months.
The man was said to have been masquerading as a Kenya Power technician yet he never worked during the day.
The residents said that there is need for KPLC to come up with new mechanism that will curb cases of transformer vandalism.
