Busia - Angry residents of Kemodo area in Busia County attacked and killed a Ugandan suspected of being a member of a gang that has been participating in livestock theft.
The middle aged man who was identified as Samwel Okumu, was attacked at Kemodo market after the owner the two stolen cows spotted him at the market as he was trying sell them.
Otimong' area sub-chief William Sega said that efforts to save the suspect from the hands of the irate mob were futile as the residents complained that they have had enough of such cases.
"Our attempts to calm the residents fell on deaf ears as the residents beat him up to death," Sega said.
However, the locals complained that cases of insecurity were on the rise in the area, especially livestock theft.
They urged the Kenyan and Ugandan governments to beef up security at the border town in a bid to curb theft cases.
