Nyeri governor Nderitu Gachagua on Tuesday denied reports that he is reluctant in office and is moving too slowly to initiate projects.
He also announced that President Uhuru Kenyatta assured him of cooperation, support and working relationship during his four-day tour in Nyeri.
Led by a section of County ward Representatives, local residents had been accusing Gachagua of working leisurely compared to other County CEOs, contrary to the residents’ expectations.
The Representatives cited the tabling of budget proposal and naming of County executives which Gachagua has not yet done as some of the issues causing nervousness.
“My Nyeri people, I wish to tell you that am not asleep as your Governor. I have been on the table coming up with strategies and plans which will amaze you,” Gachagua defended himself, advising residents not to compare Nyeri with other Counties.
“Trust me when I tell you that eventually Nyeri will emerge the best. No need to name mention people in my Cabinet who can not deliver,” he added.
Gachagua said he has to consult widely so as to pick the best team in the respective dockets.
The only Grand National Union (GNU) party elected Governor said all political leaders from Nyeri County pledged to work together despite their political parties saying that President Uhuru exuded confidence and optimism in his governorship. He vowed not to let him down.
