Nairobi - Former Nairobi Mayor George Aladwa has been released from jail on a KES 200,000 bail after his lawyers landed a court order to that effect.
The Orange Democratic Movement ODM Nairobi Branch Chairman had been locked up at various police stations during the day by Flying Squad officers for alleged hate speech offences.
He had earlier in the day been taken to the Kilimani Police Station before being moved to the CID headquarters, Nairobi area police headquarters, the Kamukunji Police Station before once again being taken to the Nairobi Area offices.
Aladwa is in the public limelight for stating that in 2017 if CORD leader Raila Odinga does not win the elections, people will cry and others will die.
He said so during Tuesday's Mashujaa Day Celebrations in Kibera.
He is expected to appear Monday at the Milimani Law Courts for an inter parte meeting.
The office of the Director of Public Prosecutions claims that Aladwa must be charged with inciting members of the public, but Aladwa himself has said that he did no wrong.
