Akorino woman nabbed for growing bhang

Nyeri - A woman from Kieni West sub-County was arrested Wednesday after she was found growing bhang in her farm.
The woman, who is an Akorino adherent, was arrested together with two other men who have been growing bhang at Amboni area in Nyeri County after members of the public tipped the police that she was indeed cultivating marijuana in her farm.
AP officers were able to net about 230 plants and 500 grams of dry bhang, already harvested and ready for consumption in the ambush.
The two men arrested are said to be notorious bhang growers in the area.
The woman caused drama at Mweiga Police station when she started praying loudly saying that bhang is a plant that was brought up by God on earth, attracting many people who were on other businesses at Mweiga sub-County offices.
The officers who conducted the operation at 5a.m Wednesday morning raided two farms at Mwiyogo and Amboni where the suspects are said to have been growing the crop.
Kieni West AP Commandant, Francis Mbogo, said that the suspects who will be arraigned in court on Thursday, observing that the culprits have been supplying the bhang in local shopping centers and in Mweiga town.
