Akon to rock Nairobi in October

27 September 2012, 12:27 Roggers Momata

Senegalese born and American recording musical artist Akon is set to showcase what he does best come October 2012 in Nairobi, Kenya. The award winning artists under ‘Konvict’ label has promised revelers in Nairobi a party like no other come October 27th and 28th. The two day concert according to information relayed via his official facebook account is set to be held at the Carnivore Grounds.

Akon’s last appearance in the country was in the year 2009 during the MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMAs), where he graced the occasion as a guest artist. Contrary to the previous scenarios which implicated promoters on various occasions playing gimmicks about his coming to the country, this time round the record has been set straight by the artist himself. In two occasions, it was reported that the artist happened to make apologies for what was viewed as promoter’s foul play in failing to foster coordination in organizing his concert in the country.

It’s been a minute since the country last held a well renowned international artist due to rampant cases of mismanagement of affairs in ‘their up-keep’ during their stay in the country. For this reason, Uganda and Tanzania have played host to most of the most sought after icons in the global music industry, taking advantage of Kenya’s misfortunes on several occassions.

This notwithstanding, hopes are high that organizers would for once prove the critics wrong and stage a mega concert to win the trust of the majority, as the country is deeply bestowed with promising talent that needs exposure and a platform to prove to the world that indeed, YES WE CAN.
