Ailing Mzee Ojwang’ to undergo eye surgery

Nairobi - Veteran Kenyan actor Benson Wanjau, popularly as Mzee Ojwang' Hatari in the popular Vitimbi television program is set to undergo eye surgery to treat his failing eyesight.
Mzee Ojwang’ was admitted to Lions SightFirst Eye Hospital in Loresho with partial blindness on Thursday, and is set to undergo the surgery today (Friday).
“I wish Mzee Ojwang' all the best as he undergoes his eye surgery today (Friday),” Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko, whose Sonko Rescue Team took the actor to the hospital said.
Sonko assured Mzee Ojwang’ of his support, together with that of his fans, to ensure that he gets well soon.
“Mzee let me assure you that you are not alone, all your Vitimbi fans are supporting you and will assist you during this difficult moment. It is our hope that today's surgery goes well and you will recover very soon and join us,” he said.
Meanwhile Airtel Kenya has set up a fundraising account on Airtel Money for well-wishers to contribute funds towards his hospital bill.
Those who wish to support Mzee Ojwang’ can follow the steps below to send their contributions.
Go to Airtel Money menu and select make payments Select Paybill
Select “Other” then type in MZEEOJWANG (one word with no space in between) as the Paybill business name
Put in amount you would like to donate followed by your PIN
Finally, type in “Hospital bill” as the reference.
For Safaricom subscribers, the Paybill Business Number is 317087 and the Account Number is Mzee Ojwang.
