Nairobi - Agriculture CS Felix Koskei has agreed to resign from his position and allow investigations over alleged corrupt deals.
Koskei, who Friday said he would not resign until he gets official communication from the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commision EACC, will resign Saturday in a bid to heed president Uhuru Kenyatta's call to leaders mentioned in an anti corruption report to step aside.
Koskei had initially sounded bullish over the matter and insisted he would not quit immediately but after added thought, he has decided to step down.
" He will step down. We have been told so," a source at the Agriculture ministry told News24.
" It is likely to be today (Saturday), from what I hear," the source added.
If he does indeed resign, Koskei will be the first official to leave office, two days after the president made the call during the State of the Nation Address in parliament.
It remains to be seen whether his move will open the door for others to resign too, with Governors mentioned especially, stating that they have no plans to step aside from office.
