Nyahururu - Administration Police in Nyandarua County have turned to preaching the Gospel to curb crime and drunkenness.
Nyandarua North sub-County AP Commander, Daniel Masaba said that the most effective way to end crime is to use a Biblical approach.
Administration Police from Nyandarua, Nairobi, Kisumu and Nakuru counties have partnered with the ACK churches to hold a week-long open air crusade outside the Nyahururu stadium from 22 to 27 July to change lives of the people.
The officers in uniform have been traversing Nyahururu town and its environs visiting Maina village, Mile Nne, Manguo and Karuga among other areas preaching the Word of God which has been seen as an effective way to transform lives of criminals instead of using the gun.
“The crusades we are holding are to change the perception of the people and criminals towards the police,” Masaba said.
He added that the public has in the past associated police with all sorts of evils.
The AP boss reiterated that preaching the Gospel is to be the new face of community policing with a view of regaining the trust of citizens.
The commander also stated that the crusade is not for their personal gain but to add value to the lives of the citizens they serve noting that when people change their values, peace is restored in the nation.
