Two pupils of Kamui Primary School died on spot after being run over by an allegedly speeding lorry carrying construction materials along Laare-Antubetwe Kiongo Road in Igembe North District of Meru County.

The 2 children identified as Fransisca Ntinyari, 13, and Caroline Kaguri, 10, are said to have been on their way to school for Saturday classes at around 9am when they fell victims of the tragedy.

The bodies of the two girls were rushed to Maua Methodist Hospital Mortuary.

Angry residents took to the streets setting ablaze 2 Lorries belonging to Intex Constructions Company paralyzing road construction activities.

It took officers from Laare Police Post 2 hours to calm the irate residents who were accusing the lorry’s driver of careless driving along the road.

The officers cautioned the residents against taking law into their hands instead urging wait for the verdict of the investigations.

The area MP Thoita M’Mithiaro who rushed to the ugly scene from a fundraiser in a nearby school asked the residents to keep calm and adhere to the law.
