Abbas calls artists to action
18 March 2014, 13:54
Nairobi - Through a post he made on Facebook on his page, Abbas Kubaff is calling out to artists in the industry to ‘wisenup’ and make a change in the way they manage their music.
This is in relation to a petition that has been started on change.org against MCSK and how they are mistreating their artists.
“IM APPEALING 2 ALL ARTISTS 2 WISEN-UP AND DO THE RYT THING, OTHERWISE THE CHANGE WILL NEVER MANIFEST!!!!” posted Abbas on his wall.
According to the petition started by Abbas and posted on change.org, the artist claims that MCSK does not include tracks that artists give to them into the system and eventually don’t pay out royalties.
He claims, “When artists try and find out what's happening, they are ignored.”
He however doesn’t blame MCSK alone, and points a finger towards the artists themselves claiming that they are not involved in what goes on with their music and rarely attend the meetings called by MCSK for the artists.
MCSK has been the center of the disaster that is our music industry with allegations from artists about lack of royalties. They just recently paid out royalties and posted about it on their website where artists like DNA and Nonini flourished.
