Ababu’s pay cut motion irrelevant, says MP

Nairobi - Kibera MP, Ken Okoth claims that he knows who sent his Bundalangi counterpart Ababu Namwamba with the pay cut motion to Parliament.
According to the MP, the motion to slash salaries of top government officials to tame the soaring wage bill never came from the Orange Democratic Movement.
“I can tell who sent Namwamba with that silly motion. He came up with something that is populist and irrelevant,” Okoth said.

He said to change a budget law, there must be a constitutional amendment and not the passage of a motion in Parliament.
“What he did was good for twitter and it has made him a celeb,” Okoth said.
He maintained that the only way to tame the soaring wage bill in the country is by holding a national dialogue and reach an agreement on the salaries of every public servant.
